The Photophysics Lab, Manipur University is led by Dr. Francis A. S. Chipem. Activities of the research group in the Photophysics Lab are experimental and theoretical study mainly on the photophysics of bichromophoric organic molecules undergoing fundamental processes such as proton transfer and charge transfer and explore their applications as probes and molecular switches. Interaction of ionic liquids with heteroatom substituted two-dimensional structures for exploration of applications in energy storage is also studied in the lab. Another work gaining momentum in the lab is a theoretical study of catalytic reactions such as transition metal ions and two-dimensional structures catalysed organic reactions.
